Journals For the last week: 5/18/09 - 5/22/09

Posted on Tuesday May 26th.

This is late because I'm new to the blogging thing, and I forgot to hit the post button before I closed the firefox window... Now I feel kinda stupid, but oh well.

Monday, May 18th:
Spent today trying to work out scheduling issues so that I could take computer science next year.

Wed, May 20th:
Scheduling again. The HB Arena Scheduling Process is a bit cumbersome at times.

Thurs, May 21st:
The actual Arena Scheduling took place Thursday afternoon -- That meant no class.

Fri:
Finally got to work -- I downloaded code from the do-grok-do BZR branch, so I can now work on the code here at HB. I spent my time looking over App.py, so that I could be sure roughly each part of the code does.

Journal 5/15

There was no journal yesterday because HB lost power, and using a computer without power is pointless.

Just thought I'd clear that up. As for today, I spent it looking into bzr again, since having a repository for code is becoming a necessity at this point.

Journal 5/13

Right. This is listed as the journal for 5/13, but it actually includes two journals, one for the work I did yesterday, which I forgot to journal about, and one for today.

Journal 5/12/09:
Due to the HB block schedule I don't actually have class on Tuesdays, but I went over to the ACC after school yesterday to work on the grok code with the other people in the group, who go to Yorktown.

We spent most of the 50 minuets or so that I was there trying to get a save and delete function on our collaborative ToDo list project. However, the functions were giving us some trouble, and we didn't really understand how some of the code was working, so that had to be resolved before the problems could be fixed.

At the end of the time period, the problem was still there, but we understood most of the code, and I had been introduced to the concept of pseudocode.

Journal 5/13/09:
I spent the first part of today helping Eric with some of his problems, including using my newly acquired pseudocode skills. he was still having some problems, so my idea must not have worked, but it was worth at try.

Basically, I spent the rest of class doing a bit of reading on bzr. We need a bzr branch for the "do-grok-do" project, since I work separately from the rest of the group and I always seem to be behind. If we get bzr set up I can get my hands on the current code more easily.

Post 1

First post! Now that something completely irrelevant to the purpose of this site has been said, I can actually say something important.

This blog has been created largely for use as a journal for my computer science class. As such, it will be largely serious, and I take no responsibility for the occasional nerd joke that may or may not suck, as dictated by your (the reader's) sense of humor.

Right... Journal 1: 5/11/09
Spent today setting up my journal/blog so that I can use it later.

Edit: apparently the timezone is set to somewhere in the west, since the time is three hours behind. Ignore it for now, or do some mental math, it's your choice.
